Rob Thomson is the highly successful owner of Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, headquartered in Jupiter, Florida. More than a decade ago, the Waterfront Properties boss founded a nonprofit organization intended to make life happier for disadvantaged local children. Since then, both the business and organization have grown significantly.

“Waterfront Properties and Club Communities now have additional offices in Palm Beach, North Palm Beach, Stuart, and Delray Beach,” reveals Robert Thomson, “in addition to our original base in Jupiter.”

Thomson quickly turns to focus back on his nonprofit. Founded in 2004, Charities for Children provides holiday gifts and other support to disadvantaged children in and around Florida’s Palm Beach and Martin counties. “After years of supporting various children’s causes, I decided to create my own nonprofit organization to help make children’s lives happier,” Robert Thomson of Waterfront Properties explains.

Each year since, Thomson and Charities for Children have donated tens of thousands of toys, primarily through holiday drives at local schools, churches, and social service agencies. “We also serve as a safety net for local children’s causes in need of funding,” he adds.

Charities for Children has, in recent years, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations for causes including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Head Start, and the American Cancer Society, as well as countless local schools.

“I have a real zeal for supporting children and schools,” explains Robert Thomson, “particularly as I personally struggled as a child with attention deficit disorder and dyslexia.”

Rob Thomson and Charities for Children have also committed to the delivery of thousands of Easter baskets to a local home for abused and neglected children in West Palm Beach each year.

“Life’s been great to me in recent years,” reveals the Waterfront Properties owner, “though as a kid, my family didn’t have much, so I’m committed to giving back to the community now that I’m in a position to do so.”

Several years ago, Robert Thomson of Waterfront Properties also donated 275 new bikes to a toy drive for the New Macedonia Baptist Church in Riviera Beach. “I hope that my efforts continue to improve the lives of others,” says the Charities for Children founder, “and inspire other people to get into the spirit of giving.”

“I’ve always said,” he adds, wrapping up, “that, when I die, I don’t want my tombstone to read, ‘Here lies a guy who sold a lot of big houses and kept the money all to himself.'”

Under what he calls an unparalleled, two-pronged approach to leadership, Rob Thomson is joined by Joe Kelly in forming operations at Waterfront Yacht Brokerage. Selling sport fishing boats, motor yachts, and powerboats from the world’s leading manufacturers, Thomson offers a closer look at business and leadership at the Florida-based organization, headquartered in Jupiter and concentrating its efforts on Florida and the Bahamas, while also maintaining the resources to serve sellers and buyers anywhere in the world.

Thomson says he and Kelly’s complementary skills and backgrounds benefit both buyers and sellers alike. While Thomson is also the managing partner of the Treasure Coast’s dominant luxury real estate company-Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, again headquartered in Jupiter, with further offices in Palm Beach, North Palm Beach, Stuart, and Delray Beach-Waterfront Yacht Brokerage partner Kelly is a licensed boat captain, broker, and lifetime marine industries member.

“I’ve adapted many of the service attributes and processes which make Waterfront Properties such a powerhouse in the local luxury real estate market,” suggests Rob, “to Waterfront Yacht Brokerage’s own business model.”

“Joe, correspondingly, knows boats inside and out,” he continues, “and understands all that goes into boat ownership, having witnessed the yacht brokering process and its intricacies enough times to know what works and what doesn’t.”

With Waterfront Yacht Brokerage, Waterfront Properties and Club Communities owner Rob Thomson and business partner Joe Kelly have introduced what they call an entirely new level of service and professionalism to the yacht brokerage community. “The greatest benefactors,” suggests Thomson, “are, perhaps, our fellow brokers and our team members, as well as the many clients who trust their boat transactions to us each year.”

Waterfront Yacht Brokerage, under Robert Thomson, markets itself as a completely revolutionized brokerage experience. “We took an industry which existed somewhere between a hobby and a profession,” he says, “and completely transformed how business is done.”

At Waterfront Yacht Brokerage, Thomson says he, Kelly, and their team apply the same client-first mindset upon which his hugely successful and prolific luxury real estate business model was built.

Waterfront Properties, Waterfront Yacht Brokerage’s parent company, has been the leader in waterfront property sales and marketing in South Florida for more than 40 years. “This puts us,” says Thomson, “in a unique position, whereby which we’re able to take advantage of the natural synergy between waterfront property and yacht sales.”

Furthermore, he and his team’s four decades of experience is, he says, supremely supported by the firm’s highly advanced internet marketing techniques and unique, proprietary backend system allowing the company to work with-and serve-its clients like no other company in the industry. “Allow us to show you how our years as yachting professionals, combined with our technologically superior way of connecting buyers and sellers, can afford you with the Waterfront Yacht Brokerage advantage,” adds Thomson, wrapping up.

Real estate visionary and South Florida property mogul Robert Thomson, owner of Waterfront Properties & Club Communities, became Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate’s newest and youngest ever Billionaires Club member when he was inducted into the exclusive group of real estate brokers in 2012. Seven years on, Thomson retains the title of the youngest broker ever to earn a place in the highly exclusive industry circle. Here, he looks back on the achievement and shares further details of the much talked about a group of leading real estate professionals.

“Hundreds of luxury brokers from around the world convene each year for the Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate annual fall conference,” explains Thomson, Waterfront Properties & Club Communities’ owner and managing partner.

It was at this event, back in 2012, that Robert Thomson would become the organization’s 21st ‘Billionaires Club’ member.

A global collective of leading brokers representing the very finest and most luxurious properties from around the world, Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate has been at the forefront of the luxury real estate market since 1986. “More than 130,000 members with properties in over 70 countries collectively sell upwards of $300 billion worth of real estate each year,” explains Thomson, “making Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate the most elite luxury real estate network anywhere on the planet.”

Thomson became the youngest member ever to be inducted into the Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate Billionaires Club during the organization’s 2012 conference, held in Scottsdale, Arizona. “It’s a title, which, in fact, I still hold today,” adds the South Florida property expert.

Indeed, no younger luxury real estate broker has ever been inducted into the international group—open exclusively to those who have sold more than $1 billion in real estate during their careers—than Thomson, who, at the time, was 50 years old.

“Thanks to my involvement with Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate, and my initiation into the organization’s exclusive Billionaires Club, I’ve been able to develop a truly rock-solid relationship with countless realtors from all corners of the globe,” adds Thomson, wrapping up, “something for which I remain incredibly grateful.”

Robert Thomson is a luxury real estate professional based in Jupiter, Florida. Robert ‘Rob’ Thomson is a managing partner and owner of Waterfront Properties and Club Communities and is co-owner of the Jupiter-based restaurant Shipwreck Bar and Grille. A keen philanthropist, Thomson is a regular volunteer with organizations such as the American Cancer Society and Big Dog Ranch Rescue, as well as Waterfront Properties’ own charitable organization, the Waterfront Way Foundation.

Rob Thomson - Waterfront Properties' River Team

Rob Thomson Introduces Waterfront Properties’ River Team

Waterfront Properties boss Rob Thomson offers a closer look at the work of the luxury real estate company’s dedicated river team.

An extension of Waterfront Properties’ wider team of real estate agents, marketing professionals, IT staff, and more, the South Florida luxury real estate firm’s river team is dedicated to the purchase and sale of the Loxahatchee River area’s most desirable riverside homes. Boss Rob Thomson reveals more about the specialist team’s work and offers an insight into life at Waterfront Properties.

Waterfront Properties’ river team prides itself on being friendly, professional, enthusiastic, humble, thorough, and attentive, according to Thomson. “People are sometimes extremely casual when it comes to signing papers which are capable of affecting their finances for several decades,” he suggests. “However, for those who recognize that small steps early on can influence major outcomes later, it’s fortunate that professionals such as ourselves are on hand,” adds the expert.

His team, he says, dedicates itself to careful monitoring of local market conditions, and to a continuous cycle of learning within the real estate industry. “As a result, we’re able to turn a potential nightmare of stress and confusion into an almost entirely painless experience,” adds Thomson.

Waterfront Properties’ river team consists of Rob Thomson, Sheri Carter, Collette Henderson, and Cristy Van Den Berg.

First established in the 1980s and owned and run by Thomson since 2010, overall operations at Waterfront Properties remain something of a family affair.

Founded by Thomson’s mother in the early ’80s and rebranded as Waterfront Properties in 1987, today the business, which has evolved into Waterfront Properties & Club Communities, has, for more than thirty years, been dedicated to providing unparalleled levels of service in terms of assisting clients in buying and selling their properties.

Thomson’s mother, Joan, remains at the company, while a number of his children are also now on board. “Related or not, success has always been about ‘us,’ as a company, and I love it when our agents say that they feel like a part of the family,” he adds.

“It’s through our dedication to service, and our resolution to pride ourselves on doing the absolute best that we can, that Waterfront Properties & Club Communities has become a staple in the luxury real estate business in South Florida,” says Thomson. “The team and I,” the boss continues, “offer properties ranging from $250,000 to more than $50 million in price, in over twenty towns in southern and southeasternmost Florida.”

Thomson, Carter, Henderson, and Van Den Berg, as Waterfront Properties’ dedicated river team, currently list a range of Loxahatchee River District properties priced from between $1 million and close to $14 million apiece. “The Loxahatchee River meanders through Palm Beach and Martin County’s wonderful lush and tropical landscape,” Thomson reveals. The Loxahatchee community, he says, boasts some of the most elegant and prized real estate in all of South Florida.

The area takes in Jupiter, located north of Palm Beach Gardens and south of Stuart, and is famed for its sandy beaches, outdoor lifestyles, and luxurious residences. The Loxahatchee River District also includes Tequesta, a charming village located just north of Jupiter, showcasing luxurious waterfront homes in an exclusive sanctuary tucked away from the rush of city living, according to Thomson.

“Both Jupiter and Tequesta boast highly in-demand waterfront homes,” he adds, wrapping up, “thanks to their unmatched views and convenient access to boating and other water sports, all of which is incredibly important to us at Waterfront Properties.”

Robert Thomson - 30 Years of Success in Luxury Real Estate

Robert Thomson Looks Back on Best Year to Date Following 30 Years of Success in Luxury Real Estate

Real estate mogul Robert Thomson reflects on his most successful 12 months to date following three decades at the peak of South Florida’s luxury property market.

Last year marked Waterfront Properties owner Robert Thomson’s best ever 12 months of sales in his already highly successful, 30-year career, with the real estate mogul responsible for selling almost $200 million worth of property in South Florida. Now with over $2 billion in lifetime sales, Thomson looks back on last year’s incredible success and offers an insight into business at Waterfront Properties.

“It’s quite true,” says Thomson, “that 2018 was an incredible year for myself and the team at Waterfront Properties.”

Success is nothing new for Robert Thomson, however. For example, no single real estate agent has ever reached one billion dollars in sales faster than the Waterfront Properties owner, making him the youngest ever to be inducted into Luxury Real Estate’s Billionaires Club. What’s even more impressive, perhaps, is that Thomson hit that mark around a decade ago now.

With offices across South Florida, from Stuart to Delray, much of Waterfront Properties’ success, says Thomson, comes from the firm’s continual evolution. “We invested heavily in the internet, very early on,” he reveals, “back when most brokerages operated exclusively on the basis that sales come down purely to ‘who you know.'”

However, with nine out of every ten real estate sales today starting as an internet search, Thomson’s competition is now playing catch-up, and Waterfront Properties is a moving target. “What’s more, complacency isn’t in our DNA as a company,” he suggests, “and we continue to invest in training and technology – more heavily, in fact, over the last three years than ever before.”

It’s this approach to innovation, training, and a refusal to become complacent which saw Thomson enjoy his most successful 12 months ever during 2018. “At Waterfront Properties, our team works exceptionally hard behind the scenes to ensure that our sellers’ homes are sold,” he reveals.

“Success has always been about ‘us,’ as a company,” adds the real estate mogul, wrapping up, “and I love it when our agents say that they feel like a part of the family.”

Robert Thomson Reflects on His Journey Into Luxury Real Estate

Waterfront Properties’ Robert Thomson looks back on more than 30 years in the South Florida luxury real estate market.

Robert ThomsonWaterfront Properties and Club Communities owner, property mogul, and a veteran of the South Florida luxury real estate market, Robert Thomson reflects on his 30-year career and talks family, indoctrination, induction into Luxury Real Estate’s Billionaires Club, brokering yachts, and more.

Robert ‘Rob’ Thomson was indoctrinated into the world of luxury real estate at a young age. “I was an unwitting student in the Joan Thomson School of Real Estate,” he jokes.

In fact, it’s true that Robert Thomson picked up a number of the best techniques from his highly successful real estate professional mother as a child. Many of these techniques he still uses today, more than three decades later.

In the late 1980s, Thomson’s mother, Joan, changed the name of her existing real estate business to Waterfront Properties, deciding to truly specialize, as the name suggests, in Palm Beach County’s exclusive waterfront properties. Now known as both Waterfront Properties, and Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, it’s the same thriving company which, and since 2010, Robert Thomson now runs.

“You don’t realize how much you’re getting indoctrinated by how much is being absorbed into your brain when you listen to it your whole life,” reveals Thomson, “until you start doing it and you already know a lot of the answers.”

Self-declared matriarch Joan Thomson remains at Waterfront Properties, today single-handedly accounting for more waterfront real estate transactions than any other brokerage in the local area, from Boca Raton to Jupiter and Stuart, and priced from $250,000 to more than $50 million apiece. An integral part of Waterfront’s training team, Joan is an expert in schooling new agents in what—from the first contact to signed contracts—she and Robert call ‘the Waterfront way.’

“My mom is awesome,” says Rob. “She’s an incredible partner and continues to be a mentor, and, while she’ll never admit it, she’s a true real estate visionary,” he adds.

Early recruitment into the Joan Thomson School of Real Estate, it seems, has paid dividends for Thomson, who, in 2012, became the youngest agent ever to be inducted into Luxury Real Estate’s Billionaires Club. “Quite a testament,” he remarks, “to my mom’s mentoring!”

Today, under Robert Thomson, who places great importance on cutting-edge technology and a unique approach to online marketing, Waterfront Properties and Club Communities boasts more than 100 agents and brokers, regularly buying and selling homes worth tens of millions of dollars.

What’s more, the highly successful businessman is also the name behind Waterfront Yacht Brokerage, giving Waterfront Properties and Club Communities’ clients the option to further buy and sell ultra-luxurious watercraft alongside, or in addition to, their similarly luxurious homes and other properties.

“It just makes sense,” suggests Thomson of the sister venture, established alongside his boat captain, Joe Kelly, in 2015, “and is one of the main reasons why Waterfront Yacht Brokerage has been so successful.”

“Now,” he adds, wrapping up, “clients can sell or buy their home and boat through experts in both areas, all of whom are on the same team.”

Owner of Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, marketed as the largest purveyor of luxury real estate in Palm Beach and Martin County, Robert ‘Rob’ Thomson is a true veteran of the South Florida property market, first entering the industry more than 30 years ago. A South Florida native, Jupiter resident Thomson offers a closer look behind the scenes at Waterfront Properties and shares further insight into his highly successful career.

At the helm of Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, Robert ‘Rob’ Thomson directs more than 100 real estate agents and considers himself something of a visionary within the industry. “If you continue to do what you’ve always done, you’ll only end up where you are,” he suggests. “My goal, therefore,” Thomson continues, “is to constantly Robert Thomsonevolve, and to be in line with any changes which are coming.”

“You have to be passionate about it, and not just trying to make an effort,” adds the real estate mogul, today responsible for in excess of $2 billion in lifetime sales.

Success, however, he says, did not come overnight. “There’s been no shortage of hard work and dedication,” Thomson explains. “It’s something of an education, and one which started when I was a boy, with my mother being one of the first realtors in the Jupiter area, primarily focused on the Jupiter Island market,” he goes on to reveal.

In 1987, Thomson’s mother, Joan, would change the name of her existing real estate business to Waterfront Properties, the company which today has evolved into Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, and of which Rob Thomson himself is now at the helm.

Asked what sets Waterfront Properties and Club Communities apart from the competition, Thomson quickly points toward the cutting-edge technology and unique online marketing model which the business employs. Thomson and Waterfront Properties and Club Communities have also agreed on exclusive affiliations with prestigious international real estate networks, such as Mayfair International Realty, based in the heart of London, England.

“Our commitment to cutting-edge technology, our unique internet model, and our global affiliations have, together,” Thomson suggests, “allowed Waterfront Properties to truly dominate the Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast luxury property markets.”

Branding is also incredibly important at Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, he says. “Much of our success also relies on having established ourselves as a brand in the South Florida luxury real estate market,” explains Thomson.

Indeed, Thomson’s visionary approach to business, technology, and branding have all seen Waterfront Properties win multiple, highly celebrated awards. “Such awards stand as a testament to what we do,” he suggests, “and demonstrate why we remain unmatched by anyone else in our market.”

Turning back to what he calls his learning experience, Thomson reveals that it’s often this, however, above all else, which keeps him ahead of the curve. “There’s no end to the learning experience, and the most important thing, for me,” he adds, wrapping up, “is to remember to keep on learning.”

Robert Thomson is a luxury real estate professional based in Jupiter, Florida. Robert ‘Rob’ Thomson is a managing partner and owner of Waterfront Properties and Club Communities.
